A little self-lobe sounds through if Markus Kröse says, it speaks “for Eintracht Frankfurt, such a player for us to have won”. But the sports board may not be wrong: with Jerome Onguené (24), Eintracht could succeed a small transfer coup.
The central defender comes to the new season with the experience of 13 Champions League games and (so far) four championship titles of RB Salzburg – free transfer. The SGE, which had been in the sake of attention for some time, paid out the Cameroonian national player with a contract until summer 2027.
OnGuené did not start at VFB yet
“It is certainly special that we gain a player who can already show numerous missions in the Champions League in his young age,” says Kösche. After Faride Alidou (20, HSV) OnGuené is already the second bargain, which the Frankfurter is not even 48 hours. He should give the defensive “further substance” and “more flexibility” hopes to croses.
In January 2017, the VfB Stuttgart, then second division, ONGuené, then 19 years old, had committed to the FC Sochaux, but only two times used in the second team. He was awarded to Salzburg at the end of the season, which finally committed him for a year later.
In Salzburg OnGuené would have liked to play more often
So far, Onguené comes to 111 mandatory games for the Austrian subscription master. With Cameroon (ten international matches) he became third parties at this year’s Africa Cup.
“In a few weeks, an exciting and successful time in my career goes to an end,” Quote the Salzburg on Friday. “Even though I did not play so much as I would like, I could not only learn a lot at FC Red Bull Salzburg as a footballer, but also as a person very much – I am very grateful.”
