Hardly anyone had given FC Villarreal against a team after the clear first leg that had not lost twelve games before and had been without a goal for four games. But in the first 45 minutes, the yellow submarine, table seventh in La Liga, showed why the Europa League winner, for example, had bowled the German record champion one round earlier.

Unai Emery had largely foregon his regular personnel in the 1-2 defeat in the relegation-threatened Alaves, which now returned in the semi-final second leg. Compared to the 0: 2 defeat in the first leg, Emery only exchanged his dual leadership and brought Dia and Gerard Neu, Samu Chukwueze initially took a seat on the bench. The failure of six-goal strikers Danjuma, who was missing in the squad due to muscular problems, was difficult.
Jürgen Klopp also competed in Newcastle United without a large number of regular players. Konaté, Alexander-Arnold, Thiago, Fabinho and Salah moved back to the starting eleven for the second leg in the Estadio de la Ceramico.

FC Villarreal had not even shot the goal of keeper Alisson throughout the first leg – he got the ball out of the net less than three minutes after kick -off for the first time. The hosts started courageously, powerful and in 4-4-2 with a high pressing line, Dia rewarded his colors from five meters with his first champions league goal (3rd).
The Reds seemed shocked and found no means to free themselves from printing with an orderly game structure. Thiago narrowly missed the equalization (13th), immediately afterwards saved Robertson against Gerard (15th) on the opposite side.
ex-Freiburg coquelin equalizes first leg
The initial phase was in the sense of the yellow submarine, which also had access and always seemed to be a step faster in the duels. So it created dangerous situations like Lo Celso, which Alisson threw himself in the way (37th). A little later, however, the Brazilian was no longer able to defend himself in the header of the ex-Freiburg Coquelin, who increased to 2-0 shortly before the break and thus equalized the disclaimer (41.). This was also the first goal in the premier class for the 30-year-old.
Klopp had to react and brought Luis Diaz with restart, Diogo Jota stayed in the cabin. This brought new impetus into the offensive game of the English, who, with a deflected slat shot by Alexander-Arnold (55th) and a side puller of the substitute Colombian (57th), signed up.

With each attack, the Reds became more confident, the goal by Fabinho through the Rulli braces was the almost logical consequence (62nd). But that’s not all, because Klopp’s eleven stayed tuned and one of Alexander-Arnold’s many crossings found the head of the striking Luis Diaz, who scored the 2: 2 and finally paved the way to the final (67th).
Because afterwards the yellow submarine was broken, the hosts had to pay tribute to the intense first 45 minutes and could hardly defend themselves. After a counterattack in which Rulli came out of his box too early and misjudged, Mané made 3: 2 (74th), whereby the Reds then left it in the final phase.

Villarreal was frustrated, the disappointed Capoue saw the traffic light card (86.) after an unnecessary getting on the center line and left the lawn with a large, appreciative applause. A little later it was over and the champions League fairy tale of the yellow submarine ended after another big fight.
The first final participant is therefore clear that it is the LFC that now has the chance to start his third Champions League title after 2005 and 2019. The final will then take place on May 28th at 9 p.m. in the Stade de France in Paris.
